Time to Bust Some Thanksgiving Myths!
Think turkey makes you sleepy? Wrong answer. It’s not the tryptophan—it's likely that second helping of stuffing and a full belly that's putting you into a food coma.
Believe that all turkeys gobble? Female turkeys are silent on this one—only the males gobble, and it’s their way of showing off.
Lastly, let’s clear up a big one and most important: thankfulness isn’t something to be done only on Thanksgiving once a year or just for the perky and positive people. It’s not about extreme positivity or wishful thinking done annually—it’s a grounding mindset that’s available to everyone all the time
Thankfulness is....
Thankfulness isn’t a happy thought or a feeling—it’s a perspective . It’s catching the small, good things that most days try to slip by unnoticed. It’s a mindset that recognizes the value of the people, moments, and opportunities in your life. It’s the practice of noticing what is good, even when life isn’t perfect and is really hard. It shifts your attention from what’s missing to what’s present. When we live it, it becomes a powerful anchor for resilience, a source of reducing stress, increased patience, improved connection, and creates a clear sense of self:
So how can you develop this more?
Here are some simple ways to develop a Thankful lifestyle
Pause and recognize the good around you- There are always good things to be thankful for in the moment in all circumstances. What are some you can think of right now?
Share it -Gratitude grows when shared. Talk about it. Tell others. Express it.
Write it down A daily gratitude list, a mental note, a moment you refuse to forget. Log it.
Hold on to it- Gratitude in hard times. It doesn’t erase pain—it lights a candle in it. Save some of those
Appreciate it- Choose appreciation over comparison in all situations.
Practice these steps everyday in all situations with others. It will become part of who you are and a daily routine in your life.
A thankful life is simply this: choosing to see the light, even when it’s small. Its seeing the good in all things all the time no matter what the situation. It will change the way you think about yourself and the world around you..
Each day is a new chance to grow your thankfulness.
